Today's High Tech Trucking Industry A Perfect Fit for Veterans

Trucking offers great opportunities for veterans, especially for those with specialized skill sets wanting to re-enter the civilian workforce. Consider for instance, along with other perks, trucking provides veterans a chance to work with new technologies in a variety of environments. And that's just one example. When you discover all that trucking offers for veterans, it's not hard to see why the United States Department of Labor reports that at least 11.1 percent of veterans are currently working in the transportation sector.

It's interesting to note that a higher percentage of veterans than nonveterans have an associate’s degree or some college education. Even more impressive is that a number of veterans also hold graduate degrees. According to the United States Department of Labor, "almost all veterans had at least a high school diploma in 2016, and nearly two-thirds had completed at least some postsecondary education." Military personnel are often diligent, dedicated and smart. And it is these qualities that make veterans excellent candidates for the trucking industry.

Each and every Veterans Day, Millis Transfer takes the time to honor the men and women who have served our country. There's quite a few of them, too. According to the United States Department of Labor, there are more than 21 million! And, more than four million of those veterans have served since September 2001.

Veterans Day, a federal holiday in the United States, is observed annually on November 11. Among the 326,000 unemployed veterans in 2018, 54 percent were age 25 to 54, 40 percent were age 55 and over, and six percent were age 18 to 24.

At Millis Transfer, we proudly welcome our veterans in good standing. With us, veterans receive affordable admission to our CDLA school, one-on-one training and a driving job with Millis for at least one year after graduation.

Veterans, on behalf of Millis Transfer, we thank you for your service. If you're ready to begin a profitable civilian career in an industry that appreciates and utilizes your skills, then give us a call today at 1-800-937-0880.
