Dept. of Homeland Security Declares Trucking Industry Part of Essential Infrastructure

Truck drivers are heroes, especially when it comes to the COVID-19 Pandemic. As part of what the Department of Homeland Security declares the essential workers group,  drivers are certainly in the thick of the danger zone. It is for that that reason and several others, that everyone in the trucking industry needs to be extra cautious to minimize their risk of contracting the virus.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), "COVID-19 is primarily transmitted from person-to-person through respiratory droplets. These droplets are released when someone with COVID-19 sneezes, coughs, or talks. Infectious droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs." It can also be contracted by touching contaminated surfaces with your hands and then touching your face. Thankfully, something as simple as washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds helps to eliminate risk. It is especially important to wash your hands when you have been in large groups of people or possible contaminated areas.

Those working in the essential workers group need to take every precaution to remain safe and healthy as their work is so valuable.
